Screening

There are several ways to check for diabetes. Historically, diagnosis was made using a test called a Fasting Plasma Glucose (FPG) or an Oral Glucose Tolerance Test (OGTT). Relying on these tests conducted in the clinic setting has only resulted in approximately two-thirds of the total diabetes population. Another test, called a hemoglobin A1c, was reserved as a management tool only.

However, the FPG and OGTT have been noted as having certain inaccuracies and limitations that have caused the scientific and clinical diabetes community to rethink the ways in which people with diabetes (and pre-diabetes) can be more accurately identified and identified earlier in their disease.

Diabetech's screening program is used in the community as a simple and cost-effective extension of the physician's office and laboratory to identify the other third.
